Diy third rad install 997.2 using 997.1 set
Ok brothers just sharing my diy i used the 997.1 set on my 997.2. The following items are noteworthy
1. Radiator is the same
2. Hoses are the same
3. Frames and holders are the same
Only difference with the sets are the air guides.
There are 3 air guides. 1 for each side and the center air guide. I ordered the center air guide from suncoast.
The installation is similar to mike's diy on the thrid rad install. The only difference, being a 997.2 are
1. There is a connector on both sides that need to be separted
2. The washer hose is on the driver side.
I also did something different to minimize coolant loss. I assembled the whole radiator including the hoses and frame. I filled the rad with coolant mix and sealed off one end of the rad. After removing the dummy plug on the passenger side i quicky installed the hose. Did the same for the driver side and bolted the whole assembly to the car.

Installation of the bumper was easy just making sure the rubber for the side air guides do not interfere with the installation.
Also to remember before installing the bumper to make the holes for the exit of hot air. All are indicated in mike's diy third rad install. For the 2010 C2S there were marks where to place the holes.

Everyone should keep in mind that the relatively cheap third radiator kit for the 997 is not priced that way by accident. The radiator is certainly not the one from the GT. It's a much cheaper radiator. Bottom line: You're paying for what you get.

Yes, you are getting a Porsche 3rd radiator kit. The reason the GT3 one is much more expensive is that it is not available as a kit and you have to buy all the parts separately, and of course it is no doubt made in much smaller quantities. The GT3 one also vents out of the top and is designed for a vented GT3 bumper, so unless you are going to add a vent to your bumper it would be useless anyway.
Great write-up Rick

Hi dan well considering the 997.2 kit is almost $900 vs $250 for the 997.1 i think its great value. Take note brother, almost all the parts are the same.if you add the price of the center air guide which i think is less than $50, i think us folks who go this route is getting more for our money relative to buying the 997.2 kit. I have grilles on front so the rather un porsche like connection between the guides are not really seen but im pretty sure are as effective.

Thanks phil. Usmc glad to have contributed. I do apologise for the not so good pics though. Not too good with documenting my diys. With practice we will get there.

slicky rick... we appreciate your contribution. I'm sure many DIYer's with a 997.2 will appreciate your ingenuity. You've saved them upwards of $600 for this kit. +600
