No, not a sign.

Don't wait for strange electrical gremlins to show their teeth. Replace that battery soon and especially before summer if you're in a hot climate. Just look up what it takes to open the car when the battery is dead... that alone convinces many to preemptively change their battery before it fails.

I was going to suggest deionized water, but try finding that outside of a laboratory environment.

All above re correct. It may just get weak when cranking but just as likely be fine on going to the store, then just dead when coming back to go home.
After being stranded too many times with a non-start battery, I have begun to replace the batteries in my cars after 5-6 years, even when they crank. Inexpensive in my opinion to do so, and much less of a hassle to do this when I have the time to do so than when I need to get somewhere and am stranded. Double the importance in my wife's car- I do NOT want her stranded anywhere.

Just replaced my '08 battery 2 mos ago for this reason and found the new one cranks significantly faster.

Good Luck!!

What are signs of imminent failure? How long can I expect to go before replacement? Don't want sudden failure as described in this forum. Thanks.
You will get the same warning that an incandescent light bulb gives you before it burns out... none.
