my father did that with Bob Bondurant and the car developed several rattles from the event that would never go away (this was not a track car).

I think if it is a car that is normally used in some in DE's or track events then yes.
If the car is just used for street use, probably not.

My point is, the car will be on the track anyway. Driven by the owner, or another driver, the vehicle has the same chances of being damaged bu either driver. I can only speak for myself and the o/p ask for opinion. If I were to take my car to the track, I know the risk, Possibly no coverage. When I take my car to the track, I am aware of this fact. If I had the opportunity to have a famous hot shoe, show me the lines. I would.

I had the chance. Ex F1 driver Tommy Bryne. I couldn't do it. Opted to go out in one of their track prepared cars. It was a blast and I learnt a lot from it and then went and did they same thing in my own car. I just wouldn't be able to stand it if something happened.

People seem to be alluding to an idea that the car will start to disintegrate just because it is being driven by a pro. What do you think the 'pro' does? Professionally wreck cars?

OP you have nothing to worry other than the already assumed risks inherent with track driving.

This video kind of contradicts my point but it's relevent:

I wouldn't hesitate. On a related note, there was a similar (heal/toe?) thread where Ayrton Sienna thrashed someone's NSX on a track. Who wouldn't have loved to be sitting next to him on a hot lap even at the risk of car damage?

Absolutely I would and I have multiple times. Chris Hall one of Porsche School Instructors has coached me at Sebring a few times and part of the day was him driving my car with me in it. Huge learning curve for me and one of the best learning experiences I ever had in a car.

It's easy to say you would until really given the chance. Unless you have the car covered and a replacement ready and not hurt your wallet.

I would as long as the pro have me an $80000 deposit, incase they tear it up. Once they are done, I will gladly give them a $70000 refund, as the $10000 is for me to cover the repair that may happen afterwards!

Best analogy I've seen! I think it is even quite a correct one.

Yes it would be really fun.

I did several DE events in my '88 and while I'm in blue (novice) run group it was great to see how well my drive my car by an instructor (some one who knew what they were doing).

It would be so much fun to ride with an ex-pro on a track.
