Default PCM

Guys - has anyone upgraded their 997.1 to the appropriate PCM (3.0?) version for that year? I.E. - anybody remove the stock radio, and upgrade? If so, what was your technique and where did you get the stock sat/nav unit? Any issues?

Thanks in advance!

You can add any brand of aftermarket that suits you.
You just have to purchase the appropriate interface for your steering wheel controls if you have any.
Also of note, you will lose any integration back & forth with the dash LCD if that matters.
No more Sports Chrono, radio station display, navi display under the tach if you have it.

I did a price match with Car Toys and bought the Kenwood DNN990HD. I had a local audio installer manufacturer a harness, purchase the bezel, replace the factory amp with a JL audio amp, and install the receiver. I was shocked at how much better the Bose speakers sounded after the upgrade. The new receiver has iPod integration, Bluetooth, HD radio, Navigation, Pandora, iHeart Radio, and WiFi (I hotspot it with my phone). This car is my daily driver so I needed some tunes when I'm stuck at a standstill in traffic.

This is the best photo I have for now. I'm still playing with the background photo but here's my current setup.

I guess you didn't watch the video posted.

I think DDSLT5 is looking to add a Porsche PCM to a car that is not equipped.

Yes I did watch the video and he states you have to add the( NAV TV HUR997 or NTV kit 210) kit to make it work with Alpine & Kenwood only.

He doesn't state whether he has Sports Chrono so I was adding the comment in case.
He says the nav clock works which it does but all lap times are stored in the oem radio so you will lose that function.

The OEM nav is integrated with the dash LCD so the turn arrows & distance numbers will not show on the tach LCD.

Oh & btw, I work for Alpine. Not a retailer. Alpine.
