Still love the car, but....

There is no denying that Bose was a great marketer who offered inferior products? The Bose stereo in the Porsche is a poor system and substandard for any vehicle let alone one selling for 6 figures. Porsche, at no extra cost can substitute a sonically superior stereo if it cared. It would appear that most Porsche buyers, me included, do not.

Got to say I find the 997.1 extremely comfortable, i've got nearly the same options as you (PCCB/Adaptive sport seats/PASM), car fits like a gloves. I find the 1,000+ mile trips to be both really fun and very relaxing.

Yeah, the only comparable car seat I've ever sat in is the custom-molded seat in my race car. I think the C2S is more comfortable than any other street car I've ever sat in, including Bentley.
I would have already started the process, save two things:
1) The integration of PCM with non-audio functions. I'd prefer not to have to lose any functionality.
2) The fact that the speaker mountings are non-standard, so you have to start modifying and cutting things to make non-OEM drivers fit. I don't generally like to do things that aren't "undoable".....but I may have to make an exception in this case.
If Porsche had put a decent system in to begin with, these limitations for aftermarket mods wouldn't bother me. To "lock down" a really bad OEM system, though - that's just crappy design. I would expect better from the company that builds the 911.....
I would just upgrade the stereo, it's out of date anyway with no ipod/iphone integration etc.

Adaptive Sport Seats save me money on hotels. On the 24 hour+ drives instead of checking in i'm able to pull over to a rest area - recline the seat flat back and catch a 3 hour nap and then get right back on the road.

Here are some things I did to make the Bose sound better:
1) Adjust the fader so that it is 40/60 front/rear
2) Turn OFF the surround sound
3) Adjust the bass up +3
4) Adjust the treble up +1
Source: Dension Gateway to iPod with lossless files.
Hope this helps.

I have not found the gas mileage on the 997.2 to be much better, if any, than the 997.1 I had two 997.1 S coupes and my current 2012 GTS. I do not notice any difference in gas mileage. Porsche claims that the power kit cars, which of course my GTS is, do not suffer a drop in gas mileage over the non power kit cars, but maybe they do. The DFI engine is supposed to give better gas mileage than the previous generation engines, but that has not been my experience.

Adding on to what gripshifter said,
I found that the BOSE system is not the best when playing just radio or even a CD. An iPod gave much better results than a mere AUX input. Surround Sound is pathetic on the system - that I completely agree with. The AudioPilot feature too can be turned off - not much benefit. With this setup, and bass increased a bit, I found the quality to be good enough. Occasionally I do listen to classical music over FM - and this setup wasn't that bad either.

Sell it and get something more to your taste.
My Bose system sounds great (when I do decide to turn it on, which isn't often) and I average 25 mpg.
If the Bose sounded terrible and my mileage was worse, I wouldn't care - it's a damn near perfect spots car.

What kind of fuel do you use to get 25mpg? (Is that the US gallon or the European one?)
I usually fill up at BP or Exxon, and I haven't hit 25mpg even after driving 50-60 miles on the highway at ~75mph. It usually hovers around 23mpg on the highway.
