Lightbulb 977 minutiae

Got any tiny morsels of knowledge? Of course you do! whatcha got? Share them!

Did you know? ... The Chrono swivels from left to right?

Did you know? ... There are a total of 4 possible speed limits to set? The 3 in PCM and one on the stalk!

Great idea for a discussion topic! Thanks for starting....

I'm a new 997.2 C4S owner (less than a month), and am still learning tidbits about owning 997 P-car. I knew about the chrono swivel, but the 4 speed limits is new information....thanks!

On the stalk = accessing the computer via the stalk on bottom left of steering wheel.

More minutiae... Power steering fluid check: The difference between a bone dry dipstick and OK can be just a few ounces. Careful to not overfill!

Is your Swartz, I mean Stalk longer, I mean different than mine?

Minutiae 1: When you open the sunroof, hit the button again and it'll open a little further.

Minutiae 2: Keep jumper cables in the car, not in the frunk. If you're battery is completely pooched, ur gonna need the jumper cables and there's no way to open the frunk without some amount of juice.

Minutiae 3: 2007 C2 does not have a dipstick, you have to rely on the digital gauge. Better to set an oil change date based on time or kms so ur not running nasty oil.

Or at least one of those cigarette lighter to cigarette lighter charger/jumper, It will give you enough juice to open the frunk if not enough to jump entirely. (it is small enough to keep in the door pocket)
Watch for wear on interior of the rear tire, not just on the outer.

997.2 is my context:

The rear seat bottoms can be pulled out. They're velcroed in. Nice for when you want to throw junk back there and not worry about marring the leather.

Not sure how I missed it for so long, but there's a cig lighter outlet in the passenger footwell.

If you have the passenger mirror set to auto-down when reversing, it only works if you leave the mirror-adjust **** turned to the passenger side.

The speed limiter is great! A big circle and number of speed you assign when hit.
It's my "Hey idiot, slow down" or "faster you dummy" depending on the situation light.

- auto tilt curb rash mirrors work on either side for me depending on where the **** is set.
- auto dimming mirrors on/off button is at the bottom of the rear view mirror. (green led in the mirror)
- there's an emergency pull cable release under the front passenger wheel well arch for the frunk (I plan on extending it so I won't have to remove the wheel)
- same pull cable exists behind the driver side rear tail light for the rear deck lid.
- I believe the headlight washers activate once for every 10 windshield wash uses
- you can pick what you want to appear in the tach LCD

True, but only if your headlights are on.

Many thanks for letting me know this!

I had the on/off switch for my Escort installed in the center console cig lighter outlet and was wondering how I could connect a battery tender...you just provided the solution!

The fuel filler door locks when you lock the vehicle.

If you are talking about the release cable that you can see when the passenger door (on LHD cars) is open, that's for the fuel filler door. The front trunk release cable is on the driver's side, under the wheel well liner.

If your horn craps out on you, you need to find a person with tiny hands to replace it by removing the passenger side fog light and accessing the horn through that cavity & from under the car or you're gonna have to remove the entire front bumper to get to it.
