Default 997 Ducktail owners: is it easy to install?

I been thinking about getting a Duck Tail for my '09 911 C2 Artic Silver, and was wondering if it's an easy DIY mod. Do you recommend taking the car to a bodyshop to do the installation? I understand that I'd need to disconnect the power from the automatic tail. How about reprogramming the internal cpu so it doesn't report an error on the factory tail?

I installed the Misha design ducktail. It isa drop in replacement for the "pop-up" spoiler. A very high quality product from a nice to work with vender. All the necessary holes for mounting are pre-drilled. Some sanding preparation needed as with all molded products prior to painting.

The installation itself is straightforward. Take your time removing the OEM "pop-up" spoiler and all its parts. You will need a new wiring harness without the connector for the "pop-up" and you can get it from your dealer. As I remember it is the harness for the turbo and GT3 and cost around $60. Yes, you will want to have the dealer re-program the car or the first time you go over 70+ (legal in Texas) you will get a spoiler warning light on the dash.

I never liked the "pop-up" and have always been a fan of the ducktail. By the way I was pleasantly surprised to find there is more down force at 70 plus with the ducktail than with the "pop-up" Good luck

Is there a concern about the engine cooling provided by the ducktail compared to the "pop up" factory unit?

The air ducts are the exact same size like on the factory OEM Porsche GT3 wing.
We even supply the OEM grills with the wing since the openings are made to be that same size.

It looks good. However, while I do like the look of a ducktail, this "add on" piece wouldn't be my first choice because the front edge is not flush with the center brake light panel. If I ever do go with a ducktail, I'd replace the entire rear hatch for the Getty part.

Personally I love the look of the duck tail. It adds to the classic 911 styling that the 997 already has. Does anyone have photos of the top? It looks to have GT3 Style ducts.
