Default Clean up radiators

There has to be a better way to clean out all the crap of 7 years* around the front radiators, than going in the front. At the bottom of the front fender is a black trim piece, will this gain access under the radiators, so you can flush out the junk???? If yes how to get it off, I removed two screws but could not budge it, maybe I'm going in the wrong direction. If there is no easy way to clean this area Dr. Porsche must be rolling around in his grave!
Lets hear some solutions, and thanks in advance.

John

7 years ?
I do it at least once a year.End of the season especially will all the leaves from fall driving.
Even if you put the grilles on, small bits like gravel can still get in.
I just run the hose to loosen it all up and the suck it all out with the shop vac.
10 minute job.

Default My Radiators at around 194K miles - with pics

I never cleaned my 2000 Boxster S radiators until 194K miles. What do they look like? Not too bad actually. The first pic below is what was between the radiator and A/C condenser. Some of the crud was like cement and would not come off, but actually, that was only a few square inches. Sprayed on some simple green and got it all pretty clean.

Not as bad as one would think after 12 years of all year, all weather driving. Lotsa paranoia out there.

Peace

You can cut down on the amount of junk by adding mesh protectors. See https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...protector.html

I just used a household vac to get all the junks out...took probably 30 min. total. that's probably due to many years of accumulation. If you don't it every year, i would think it will be less time.

I agree that this is all you need to do. However to get at the crap shown in my photo, you must remove your bumper and then separate the radiators. That stuff you see there is what gets passed around the first radiator and is sandwiched in between. This was a common project with Boxster owners many years ago and I see no differences in the our car's architectures.

Maybe your Boxster radiators were made better than 997TT radiators. Because ours tend to puncture and leak if not cleaned regularly. Here's a thread on the latter:

And yes, I'd clean them as frequently as possible.
