Yeah loud like that. All you will have on a 2005-2008 is cats and in a 2009-2012 you do retain the center muffler but it's still very loud. Fun though!

I had them on my 2009. Track friend had them on his 2006. Different exhaust set ups but both eliminated side mufflers.

I have a M&M system on my 2012 that eliminates the side mufflers but has 2 small mufflers in the center. Still loud but sounds great...some drone but that's what happens when those side muffs go away.

If loud with a good sound is what you want, I would recommend a Center Cat Bypass X-Pipe since this is a 997.1.

This will give you a really nice sound, even with stock mufflers.

It will be quiet when you are not on the throttle, and very loud when are you. It sounds better in my opinion than the side muffler bypass pipes. It is also not as loud as side muffler bypass pipes. The downsides are:

-More low end torque loss than with side muffler bypass pipes

-Cat-delete causes CEL and emissions issues that the owner can deal with in many different ways

The sportcat x-pipe is an excellent in-between for cars that need to pass emissions. The 200 cell HJS cats still allow significantly improved flow and sound over stock but they will not trigger a CEL. There will also be an increase in low and mid-range torque when compared to stock with steady gains up to redline whereas the catbypass pipe experiences a small loss in low end torque vs. OEM.

Hi Chris I think he has a 2006. So there is no center pipe delete due to the cats in that location on 2006-2008 cars.

He just needs to do a nice Fabspeed muffler set up with your 200 cel cats rear center section...pass emissions and gain some power with an excellent sound.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the recommendation, the 200 Cell X-pipe with Maxflo mufflers will certainly give him great sound, and will pass emissions (will not pass California visual at the moment).

HK G36C another thing to consider on your 997.1S is our Sport Headers...There are HUGE power gains to be had on even a bone stock 997.1S....the factory I believe intentionally handicapped the 3.8 non GT3.....a lot of power and most importantly, mid range torque, is gained with our Sport headers alone.

Chris can you comment on how the sound changes with the sport headers on a stock system? The power sounds great, just wondering about noise and drone?

Slightly louder on full throttle but not much different from stock. No drone.
