Drain location and cleaning

Sorry for bumping an old thread...
I've just done exactly the same as David above, except on the other side of the battery. Car is a 996.1.
Went to unblock the drain on the right hand side of the batter (as you face it, RHD car) and mistakenly pushed the piece of rubber too hard, it fell through the hole. Tried to retrieve it with needle nose pliers but no joy... it eventually disconnected itself from the tube that it's attached to (which I believe runs to a hole in the wheel arch) and is nowhere to be seen now.
Even if I am able to retrieve the rubber grommet/bung, any idea how I can get it reconnected to the tube/hose?

Actually with the 99 you did yourself a favor. Because of clogging issues porsche put out a TSB to replace the grommets and not connect them to the holes. It was floating around here some somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Interesting- thanks! I did read elsewhere about an updated grommet on newer cars. As long as the water not draining to a single point doesn't lead to increased corrosion etc (it rains A LOT over here), I guess it's not a big deal

Me too
I need pictures of the rear drainage holes on a 997 cab, too. I see a couple of oval holes under the roof cover piece. But I can’t find holes where it looks like most of the water would be (the inside carpeted part). This is frustrating. Thanks!
