Hey gang....
I've been casually thinking of purchasing a Carrera GTS, and one thing I really like is the 408 horses through the addition of the X51 power kit upgrade, which comes standard on the GTS.
However, one thing I really, really dislike are the center lug wheels on the GTS. It seems all GTS's come with them, no?
So, I'm thinking maybe a 2009 or later 997.2 Carrera S with the X51 upgrade might be the way to go, but I've searched all over and have only seen the X51 on 2007 and 2008 cars.
Does anyone know if Porsche made a 2009 or later Carrera S with the X51 option, or am I stuck with a GTS and it's centerlock wheels if I want a post-2009 car with the X51?
Thanks in advance for any helpful info

They were also produced with 5 lug sport wheels but I suspect <10% were specced that way. Search the Porsche preowned and you'll see examples.Originally Posted by goofballdeluxe

For the non GTS 997.2's, X51 was an option and an expensive one at that. You won't see very many examples.Originally Posted by goofballdeluxe

Unless you plan on changing wheels frequently, I wouldn't worry about the center lock wheels. I have had my GTS with center locks for 2.5 years and they have never been an issue. But, I haven't needed to change wheels for track use, or get new tires. When I get tires, I usually go to my local Porsche dealer because they will match or beat Tirerack prices, and there is no issue with the center locks at the dealer. Not to mention that the center locks are very nice looking, and forged also.Originally Posted by goofballdeluxe

The CLs are, imho, the stupidest thing that P has done in a while. They dont belong on a road going car. Gotta service them etc. blah blah.
There are cars w/o CLs.

there have been several gts that have been on ebay and autotrader with 5 lug wheels, also the gts didnt come with the official power kit, it had some pieces missing. you could get a regular 997.2 and do some aftermarket mods and get more HP and pay alot less money than the $18k cost of the kit
