Driving Impressions of my new Porsche
I purchased my first Porsche about two weeks ago. The car is a 2011 4S coupe with PDK, full leather, Sports Chrono Plus, etc. Mileage was 6,200 miles when I purchased the car. The car has 25 months left on the warranty. My previous car was a 2011 Corvette Convertible that I drove trouble free for 34,000 miles.
The Porsche is easier to get into and out. The sports seats are very comfortable and supportive. The leather interior is very nice. I like the PDK but am still getting use to it. Have not messed with the Sports Chrono Plus as of yet. The navagation system is very easy to use and seems to be high quality. The car hugs the road very well with no noticeable body lean. Acceleration is all that I need.
On the negative side is the a lack of keyless entry and keyless push button start. No automatic headlights on. My last three cars had this feature and I really miss it. No XM radio on a car that had a MSRP of $118,000. The ride is a little harsh. The gage faces are painted light tan to match the interior. During the day light, the gages are somewhat dark and hard to read. The cup holders are over engineered. Service cost is out of this world. The dealer quoted me $480 for an oil change. (I plan on doing my own oil changes.) The 4 year service will cost me $2,300.
Overall, I am pleased with the car but will probable go back to a new Corvette in two or three years. Can't justify the cost of a new Porsche.

i completely agree with you re lack of keyless/push button start/auto headlamps.
the other little things that bug me (personally) are
- the cup holders (coffee almost always spills)
- service costs (thankfully the 997s are probably the easiest cars to do DIY oil changes)
- the water leaking rear side windows (when going through high pressure touch less car wash... watch out for this one).
480$ for oil change? thats almost laughable.... but is sadly the reality nonetheless.
now lets get some photos, and congrats!

Your Porsche dealer should offer service coupon deals frequently that will bring the oil change price closer to (but still over) reality.
I actually like still having to use a key to start my Porsche. But, I'm old.
You'll learn to like the PDK, hopefully. I'm a convert after decades of three-pedal driving.
Let's see some pix of those tan gauge faces, too.

991's are much more difficult to do an oil change as the engine is more forward. Take a look at the DIY, kinda dissapointing.

I am buying an '11 GTS next week and it comes with 4 pre-paid services (can't really imagine waiting the suggested oil change interval though). $480 is a walk in the park compared to an annual service on my now sold '09 Vantage....try $1800!!

I hate the keyless thing. I love the left handed key start. Also, I just paid $440 for an oil change, brake fluid flush and tech inspection. Your dealer is way over priced. Find an indie somewhere.

So far my 26 month old 997.2 C2S has spent a grand total of over 8 weeks in the dealers shop generally awaiting parts to come from Germany. The car has just over 10K miles. My 2005 Corvette that had almost 40k miles when I traded for the P car had spent a grand total of a few hours in the dealer's shop and the oil changes were 29.99!!
I love driving the Porsche, but I am not sure it is worth twice the price of the Vette.
Good Luck with your car.

$29 oil change. What kind if oil are they using? I by my oil in bulk and pay more than that for the oil itself.

Where can you find synthetic oil for that price?

I pay about $80 for enough motul for an oil change and a little extra to carry around to supplement.
I just can't see how gm could offer a $30 oil change that cheaply. Oil, rent, equipment, labor.
They must be taking a loss, writing it off and passing it on to the tax payer.... Ho!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
