Default Error Indicator After Battery Swap

I put a new battery in my 2007 911.1 C4S yesterday. I used a motorcycle donor battery that I connected to the battery cables to keep voltage on during the swap. Half way thru the process I noticed the trunk convenience light had gone out although the donor battery was still connected and in a good state of charge. Now I have a failure warning light in the gauge cluster (PASM Failure and another one). Everything seems to be functioning OK so I think it must have thrown a code. I have a code reader/tool. Is this something I can clear myself or am I doomed to give the dealer more monies?

PASM should clear itself after a dozen of so miles. If you have a Durametric tool then you should be able to clear any other codes.

Read your owner's manual - here's one page that deals with battery change:

Seems the 997 requires a reset of two systems on loss of battery power at least:
1) PSM
2) Window Positions

The warning of not inserting the key is interesting. Why does the system fail into a 'key locked into the ignition switch' mode ?
