With the Michelin Alpins, it drove up the driveway like it was dry.
If I could only find a way to get them on the 997!

I plan on driving the car this winter with my DWSs.

Not in the snow. Only if it's dry and relatively salt-free out (she's basically staying under her car cover until April 2016).

My past experience with DWSs on "lesser" cars, is they really are a great all-rounder, even in light snow.
Truth is, the original goal was a softer compound for temps under 45-50 degrees. I would choose another vehicle on "known" snow days...

I've been quite happy with Pirellis on the 997 for winter duty.

My Pirelli's were great even when there wasn't snow. I had to use them for a bit this past May while I waited for a new set of front summer tires and they still had plenty of grip for spirited driving in temps above 50 degrees F....albeit I didn't push too hard with them.

That's why they're rated as a four season tire. I got my set on around early April of this year, where we had a few 40-50* days in Chicago. They were fine.

They get greasy very quick when it's hot out, during competitive driving (autocross). A tradeoff for elasticity across a broad temperature spectrum, I take it.
