My car is making a weird sort of whining sound at at low rpms (it may do it at high rpms but is being drowned out by the exhaust). I'm not sure if it is coming from the engine or not but I think it is coming from the front. I did notice that when turning the steering wheel I get the same whining sound but much louder. This leads me to believe that it is steering related but perhaps both are just making noise.

The sound is not extremely loud but it is loud enough that it really annoys me unless I have music playing.

Based on some searching I read that it could be the steering pump? ALso, I have AWE Cats and Gundo hacked mufflers, not sure if that could cause this weird sound.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Steering sound is normal with sharp turns at low speed, from memory mentioned in the manual. Did you check the steering fluid level ?
