Center console refinishing. Ruberized type.
Hello.
Was wondering if anyone has had their center console refinished.
Picked up a 2007 and it had a few nicks, worn out corners, rashes from the seat bet buckle. Same for the trim around the key switch.
It's black with that semi rubber coating. Was wondering if the plastic dip stuff would work? If it does not theoretically you could just peel it off...
Thx AEGS

Not a great idea on the respray of the rubberized, but there are some touch up guys that most dealers use for CPO cars that an do a decent job.

The painted center console in the pic above looks incredible. I purchase a "horseshoe" dash surround for my 996 2 years ago from bumper plugs in silver to match my factory painted center console and the paint was flawless and matched perfectly. I just bought a 2010 carrera (black on sand beige) and I'm planning on ordering the center console from bumper plugs in black. I would go the painted route.

the interior parts are painted with a thick, hard textured paint. Porsche tex I think they call it. You can sand it and repaint it if you want but it will still wear. And it probibly wont be a good finish. If you want a hi quality job, you have to paint it with a automotive BC/CC paint. so its the same as an exterior finish.

Eric, whats the core refund on the:
"997 Rear Center Console"/$629
"Front Section for 997/987 Rear Console"/$129
"Rear Section for 997/987 Rear Console"/$129
My soft OEM paint is lightly scratched/work so I would imagine if you strip them down to plastic they would be perfect w/o paint.

Sadly, most Porsche salesmen neglect to advise their clients to order a leather center console when configuring a new car. As a result, too many of the 997s have that wear-prone slush finish which gets bad in a short time.
I'm glad to have gone with leather in the first place.

I've had my center console painted Meteor Gray and it absolutely makes the interior brand new and makes it all more premium.

Question for those who have gone with the painted consol. Seeing how the texture surface wears off and gets scratched and scuffed over time how well does the paint hold up over time. Especially with a high gloss black. In three years does it look all scratched up.
