Default REAL cost for PDK clutch job?

In a different non related thread I asked this question and someone mentioned, as a guess, maybe $3000 for the clutch job.

I personally am thinking it could be twice that much just due to the complexity. Im thinking in computer terms that the.PDK will be an FRU Field Replaceable Unit and could cost at least twice more than $3000.

By the time the PDKs start wearing down and out there should be a service in place. Talking second hand non-Porsche units to save money.

PDK cannot be serviced, at least not by Porsche or any shop we've heard... so, basically when it goes you must replace. How much that costs? I have no idea, 100% it'd be over 5K, I'd guess closer to 10K.

You would be correct in assuming over $10k for unit alone, easily. And that's reman prices from Porsche. NEW warranty replacements are north of $20k. For a transmission.

There are no clutch parts or packs that Porsche sells to do a clutch job on PDK. However PDK shifts so perfectly it really does not wear out clutches. Even the guys that race PDK have noticed the clutches are not worn so they just replace the 2 fluids and keep on driving.

I had my PDK replaced under warranty. Service adviser told me it's a $17-20k job.

Once in a while I smell clutch when on sport mode. Is this normal? Yes, clutch replacement on f1 transmissions are around $5k.

Why did you have to replace? If it shifts so perfectly as stated above then why it failed?

How about when using "launch mode"?

Only if you want to be assured of replacing the manual clutch. I'm guessing the delta between manual clutch replacements and PDK trans replacements is quite large.

A friend had hers replaced after going into limp mode at the track. I believe it overheated. Warranty.

Separately I saw my tech replace a PDK on a Turbo S w/ less than 600miles. Yikes.
He said they dont touch these trannys.

It is a wet clutch system, assume Porsche do not expect it to wear out anytime soon, other than random failures.

Heard that wet clutches are a lot more durable than the regular dry clutch type. Im surely hoping if the pdk unit you have has gone through the first couple of thousand miles without problems it will go through its life without a hitch. Te usual problems happen early in the life of the pdk. Have a unit where the pdk was replaced due to a noise around 2k km on a 4s. Warranty of course. The replacement also developed a leak and was again replaced after 1k km. after that problem free already.
