I think he was using "pretentious" not as "pretending", but rather "attempting to impress". I personally do not think it pretentious, but I do not use it for various other stated reasons. I have no doubt it works well and makes cold/windy driving better, its just a bit clumsy.

Will this fit the 997.1 as well (I have a 2006 C2S Cab)?
