Default Alignment & Balancing Question

Just has 2 new Super Sports installed on the rear at Discount Tire. So a few questions:
1. Do these cars require a 4 wheel alignment?
2. If so, after changing just the rear tires should a 4 wheel alignment be done?
3. Last, the balancing at Discount Tires - do they usually do a god job?

That's good. Get the car in to your trusted Indy shop for a proper alignment.

Should always do this to protect your tire investment, at the very least.

Figure about $230ish.

Have them recheck the balance on the two back wheels?

Out of curiosity, why would a 4 wheel alignment be suggested just for changing 2 rear tires?

You should be able to tell if the tires are balanced.

You need A full alignment because; your alignment is likely out and it does not cost that much more to do all 4.

Went to my local Indy, he said there was no reason to get a 4 wheel alignment just for replacing the rear tires ....unless the old ones were worn incorrectly worn. I will give it a month or so, if tires are wearing uneven I will get it done.

Another question, searched the forum and did not find an answer. Why do a 4 wheel alignment after new tires?

Just got 4 new MPSS, and the wear on the old tires was fine, which to me indicates there was/is no alignment problem. Thoughts?

It's just good practice and if you're drive around long enough to need new tires then you probably should get an alignment.

I disagree with getting an alignment when replacing tires. Once set correctly, the alignment shouldn't change. Unless there is evidence of uneven tire wear, save your money.

I took deliver on my 997.2 C2 Cab 5 years ago this month. I currently have 35,000+ miles on it and I've never had the tires aligned. After 50 years of having routine wheel alignments done I've decided it was a colossal waste of money. If you are having wear or driving problems, then have a wheel alignment done. If not, then all you are going to do is cause problems IMHO.

The dealership did an unrequested wheel alignment on my LX 570 and they had to do it over three times before they got it back to driving and wearing as I wanted.

you probibly didnt replace the front because they dont wear, so you could balance all 4 if you have the chance, and probibly doesnt need alignment but every 30 or 50k mi, but its riskier to have someone align it that doesnt know how to align a porsche than to leave it alone. use the dealer or a known porsche aligner
