Default Sport Exhaust - Coming Full Circle

When I first got my 2006 997 Cabrio, I thought the exhaust could do with a bit of a sportier note - a bit louder, more muscular growl. Since Fister exhausts have a great reputation here, I decided to go that route and sent my stock exhaust to Darin for exchange with one of his modified exhausts with a 1 3/4" bypass pipe.

Once installed, I found the sound too loud for my taste in most situations. It was fine when cruising and on open roads, but too much first thing in the morning with the engine cold, and during hard acceleration. I contacted Darin (a real gentleman btw) a few weeks later, and we agreed to try another one of his exhausts with a smaller, 1 1/4" bypass pipe. This one was noticeably mellower in most instances, with a nice sporty sound during acceleration. Everyone who heard it, loved it.

However, after a few months of living with different exhausts, I've come to the conclusion that what I really enjoy most of all is a relatively quiet driving ambiance. I know I'm definitely in the minority here, but I've "downgraded" back to the base exhaust, and couldn't be happier. Even my girlfriend misses the old sporty exhaust note, so I most certainly must be getting too old.

My two month old Fisters (with the 1 1/4" bypass pipes) are available for sale in the Marketplace. $449 and no exchange is necessary, so you also get to keep (or sell) your stock mufflers. Not a bad deal, considering the mod alone costs $265, and I'm including shipping anywhere in the US.

I also just listed a real nice set of quad S tips, as well as the non-S oval tips in the Marketplace. Both sets are in great condition.

I know what you mean. First thing I did when I picked up my 993 is remove the Fabspeed Maxflows that the PO had put on (too loud) and find a set of stock mufflers.

PSE = Best of both worlds although I do wish it was louder when turned on.

Might be an option to consider.

PSE would be ideal, but obviously substantially more money.

The Fisters are now sold and will be on their way to their lucky new owner. I'm sure he'll enjoy them.

The oval as well as the quad S tips are still available, in case anyone is interested.
