Default Speaker cutting out at higher volume

Hi all,

I noticed yesterday that my speakers started cutting out when I had the volume turned up. I was using iPhone through Dension BT500. The same problem occurs with a CD and also with the radio. This occurs whether I'm in active or passive mode on the Dension.

My configuration is radio w/single CD player and Dension integrated directly to the PCM (i.e. PCM out --> Dension in and Dension out --> PCM in).

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what suggesteth ye?

TIA

I've got the same setup as you with a similar problem. Every once in a while I turn the car on and all I get is really loud static coming out of a back speaker. Everything else is dead. After a few starts the problem goes away. I haven't had anyone on the board with any suggestions. Do you have the Bose system? Maybe the amp is going out?

I don't know if I have Bose or not (not sure how to tell). I thought about amp as the culprit but since I put in the Dension - that became a suspect too just because it's an add-on. I may pull the Dension and see if the problem persists, but I'm lazy (plus its still hitting 95 during the day here) so it won't be anytime soon I don't think.

The Dension should have no bearing on the fault as it's happening on all sources.
I suspect it's more likely the amp.

If you have Bose, it should say on on one of your door speakers.

I would bet the amp is overheating.

I assumed as much, but wanted to pull the Dension to be 100% sure.

Gonna go check now... Checked. No Bose. So, I assume that means amp is part of the PCM head unit itself?

How quickly could it overheat? This occurred the other day within the first 10 min or so of having the car and radio on. Was not blasting it for that time - just driving home with normal volume then turned it up.
