Thanks Mike! Yes, I am in a C2 3.6 without sport crono. Had I known I would track this car this much, I would've gotten the C2S. I would love to have the six piston big brakes, as the stock C2 3.6 brake could use a lot of improvements. On the upside, brake pads and rotors are cheap

Not sure if I am going to Laguna, it's a bit of a gamble with the weather...
My next track day is Infineon/SEARS Point in two weeks

Here you go: http://youtu.be/kvObNlM3TwA
This was session 3 on Saturday and we are both fighting with the slippery track (you have two nice saves: one in turn 2 in the first third of the video and one in turn 15 at the end of the video).

Nice video. Sorry I missed it guys. I haven't been on the track since the pca buttonwillow weekend.
I also run the pilot super sorts and at button willow it was about 98 degrees and by mid day things were so greasy I just decided to run at the back of the group and ease up and work on my line. Then on Sunday it was considerably cooler and I felt more confident pushing harder without the greasy tires. They seem super grippy to a point and then they gradually let go and regain grip but its still an odd sensation.

Yeah, after all the raving reviews I was actually quite disappointed to see the Super Sports to lose traction so badly in hot conditions. I ran them in Laguna-Seca in much lower temperatures in the spring and they were fine, but last weekend I sincerely missed my Nitto NT-01 I had on my Boxster...
My worst moment was in session 4 (in the afternoon heat) when I came out of turn 2 and got in a complete 4-wheel drift with no traction at all (I caught myself thinking, I hope I get some grip before I simply drift off the track), and I could feel how the 4wd computer in my car tried to make any sense out of it ;-) (it probably thought it was on ice).

The super sports are awesome for street driving and as a decent beginner DE tire. They seem great on the track until the temps get up there and then they just aren't. For my purposes, still in the yellow group, they're fine but I can see separate track wheels in my future a few seasons down the road. Maybe some CCW's with Nittos with a wider footprint.
At buttonwillow I had to keep bleeding pressure off due to the heat. Towards the end of the day I had tpms warnings of a flat tire and the first lap felt very soft. By the third lap things felt great and then a few laps after they'd get greasy. I just had to feel my window of being able to push it.

I was also there on Sat and had an instructor as required since it was my second track day with PCA. As they were short one instructor, I was moved to green/blue instead of yellow. My motto for the day: if you can't be quick on the track, you better be with the point by's Dave

i suppose you could have a friend stand on the side of the road holding a decibel meter, while you scream by at WOT. You can get one at Radio Shack for about $40. There's also some iPhone apps but they aren't as accurate from my experience.

Just found this on the BMW forum.
"Laguna Seca measures 50 feet from the driving line, using the a-weighted scale on a sound meter."

For what it's worth:
I have a Tubi exhaust (only the cans not the central muffler bypass).
I was driving Laguna Seca in April on a 92 dB day and was black-flagged with 94.8 dB
Short shifting at the sound station helped (no more black falgs for the rest of the day), but I doubt that this strategy will work on a 90 dB day ...

short of full slicks, you need to lift for T8 if you are any where close to 100mph.
at around 100mph, there is NO run off at T8. you need every bit of concrete inc the widened berm to the right.
i am not sure who told you T8 is faster than you tihnk you can do. it's T9 that's a lot faster than what you think you can do. however, should you go off T9, it's ugly.
