9500ci radar detector

9500ci radar detector
I am thinking of getting the Escort 9500ci or the equivalent Bel detector installed professionally. I understand one of the Porsche dealerships does this.
1. What is the general opinion, does an install void the CPO warranty.
2. Has anyone installed these detectors, how do you update the software/defender database on these (after they have been installed).
3. Does the 9500ci work well in practice. I have the 9500ix, which I like.
4. I like it that the 9500ci is undetectable by SPECTRE.

I have two of these that I bot used, and I've not used any other brands, but I've found their range/advance warning quite short...sometimes like 1 second or even 50 yards away.
Any thots?

The 9500ix is perhaps the best detector on the market. Do you have your windshield covered with plastic or something. You must be using it wrong in someway..or maybe the device has stopped functioning. They do provide free software updates (downloadable).

I think radar is about warning someone getting hit up the road, but with instant on detectors without advanced warning don't help that much. Having said that I use radar detectors and have them on at all times.
My recommendation is to make sure the detector you buy can "remember" Traffic Sensing Radar locations. These are the spots that blast radar to determine the average speed of traffic and they feed the signs that show how the estimated number of minutes to a certain designations based on the speed of traffic on the route. (I.e. Vail 30 minutes)
One thing is to be sure that you have a Laser Interceptor device. It saved my rear this weekend and Laser is becoming much more common. Google "Laser Interceptor". That's the brand I have and I am sure there are other good ones out there, like Blinder.

The 9500ci is an expensive detector but in this case you get what you pay for. I have one and it is top notch. Mine replaced a V1 and I do not miss the V1 at all. The detection range of the 9500ci is equal to or better than the V1 and the GPS-enabled false-alarm lockout is a godsend in the area I live in, where 98% of the alerts are false alarms. The concealed installation is also important to me because in the past I've had my cars broken into twice to steal the radar detectors (and other stuff).
My Porsche dealer did the installation and I doubt it voids the CPO warranty.
Updating the software is simple. The 9500ci includes a USB interface and you download the updates from your laptop/PC through the USB port.

Thanks jake951, is the GPS module a separate install on the roof. Do you also have the front and back laser receiver/shifters. I read somewhere, that its not necessary to buy those.
Was curious if you posted any related pictures in the past (or have them handy!). Thanks

Agree 100%. Love my 9500ci, nice clean install and works great. I love the speed camera database and literally no false alarms. Just bought the new passport max for wifes car, it works great also except its on the windshield and the laser protection ...I doubt it works well.

If you're thinking of buying a 9500ix, you might want to learn more about the Passport Max, the model that's replacing the 9500ix. It's brand new, but is better than the 9500ix out of the box, and will arguably be the best windshield mounted RD ever made for driving in the city.

I have the Escort 9500ci and my dealership in Austin does not care. The lasers will shift according to your driving speeds/ conditions, in town it has one adjustment at high speeds another. . I love the red light/speed camera warning and it jams the laser, it works trust me. Also a very clean look in the car.

The laser modules are part of the 9500ci system, so I don't think they are optional. I do believe, however, you can choose not to install or activate them.
There are several threads on Rennlist showing photos of 9500ci installations so you should search for those.

I just bought a 993 TT and had the Laser Interceptor in my 997 T4S. What has everyone's experience been with the 9500ci's ability to cloak the car from laser?
The Laser Interceptor worked 100%. I might buy the 9500ci because its integrated, if the laser shifter works. I have had my neck saved eight or so times in the past two years, not driving crazy, but with traffic. The LEO's tend to like to trigger the sportier cars first.

I can't remember where they installed the GPS module but there is nothing on the roof. The location has to be somewhere where there is no metal obstruction looking outside.
