Default All Reds on Midnight Blue

My car is a 2008 Midnight Blue 997.1 cab with all reds. I had no idea they were an extra-cost option when I bought the car used. While I am quite sure I hold a minority opinion, I LIKE the incandescent retro look -- so unlike the 997.2 and 991 wannabes.

I suspect in several years, as 997s become more "classic," there will be a lot of people who want to switch back to the original OEM tail lights -- hang on to your originals. Either that, or all those 356 drivers will want to switch to LEDs.

At our last PCA tour, I was surprised at how many people came up and commented on how nice my tail lights looked (geez, they're just tail lights). If I didn't follow these forums, I would never have thought anything about them. Either there really is an all red tail light following, or PCA people are even nicer and more considerate than most.

Ken, I don't have a tail shot of my car handy. I will try to post one for you this weekend when I have time. All reds look best on dark colors, *especially* Midnight Blue and Black.

I had them on a Slate Gray '09 TT cab and they looked awesome. I think it depends on the exterior color of the car to how well it looks. For instance I don't like them on a red car or black car, but white, blue, silver & gray is sweet. I will say you "give up" some rear backing illumination w them too, more like pink light instead of white! GL

that's interesting but I am sure I could adapt. I happen to like them on every color I have seen so far.

Actually, I was just looking at a Guards Red GT2 with all reds and it looked amazing. I am sure they will compliment my Arctic Silver nicely

I might be in the minority but I prefer the standard lenses on my 2008.

I personally think the all reds cheapen the look of the car (and to think Porsche charges MORE money for them!). But to each his own - nice to have choices.

Thanks if you get the time I'd love to see it on my car's twin.
