Hi Bob.......nice to see you here again! What happened to the other 911 in your Avatar?

As far as this car goes, I really like guards red but the mileage would be too high for me. I'm sure others here will have no issue with that but for my money I'd look for something much less!

Nothing wrong with color but you should be able to find a car with half the miles for a little more money.

+1 on ok for car, but given car about to be 6 yrs old, and discount for 09 vs 2010, perhaps price a bit hi for the mileage.

Color is important. If you're not sure you like it, keep looking.

The 997.2 is a fine engine and should be long-lived. 66k miles is nothing to be nervous about, as long as the price is appropriate. In this case, I think $53k for a .2 C4S with 66k miles is a fair price.

Is it manual? Thinking about potential clutch soon depending upon PO's driving habits / skills.

Go with the old P car saying, buy the lowest mileage you can afford.

Thanks for your comments. Like an IDIOT, I traded my 07 4 Cab in a while back. Realized I can't live without one. I've been afraid of the color and mileage but the price has been tempting me with the option list and year 09 when the direct injection was added as well as the newer dash etc.

Being "afraid" is not a good frame of mind before spending $53k on something. If it's not what you want, you will keep looking even after you buy this. Then, you will trade it in and lose $10-15k buying the car you really want. Be patient. You shouldn't have to talk yourself into it. When you can't talk yourself out of it, it's the one.

if you're looking at 09+ and new cars, these cars are still dropping pretty steadily and i think patience will pay off. for me, i've had my BEST luck buying convertibles when it's snowing in the east coast or mid-west

btw, for my current C4S, i've been looking for about two years, and not only did i get a GREAT price and directly from a porsche enthusiast, but it was the color that i wanted AND it had about $10k in upgrades/mods.

good luck...you'll be well rewarded.

All cars drop in price and especially in winter they become cheaper. That doesn't only apply to Porsches. So if you wait years or for the winter the price will always be lower. The downside is you don't get to enjoy the car while you wait.

Having said that, the 997.2s are holding their value pretty well relatively speaking. My 2009 was $86k brand new, (truth be told they were dealing on 2009s back in the day) and 4 years later, I feel hasn't depreciated too badly. Not that I care. Buy a $86k merc brand new and see what it's worth 4 years later. Btw it's only a 4 year old car not a 6 year old car.

As to the OPs question, I'd say don't be nervous about miles. If its very well maintained and looked after you'll be fine. I think color should be something you're sure about. You have to live with it. I think the price is a smidge high, but not too far off. Come November, it should tick down.

As rodsky said, this winter they should come back down. Right now prices are higher, nearly 9 months later, than they were last winter. I'm also seeking an 09+ S car. Really hoping they are "half the miles for the same money" again this winter. But if they're still hovering near or above $60k I'll probably just pop for a 2007 GT3.

Dartmouth, if you're an idiot, you're not alone. I had a 2010 C4S and traded it for a Merc. Two months later I decided I had made a horrible mistake. Sold the Merc and bought an '08 C2S. If you miss your 911 the way I missed mine, you'll be back in one soon. But, I agree with some posters on here that you might want to consider a much lower mileage 997.1 for the same or less money.

Man you guys make me feel a lot better. Even if I'm dying not being able to do all the great things my 07 did for me....like driving it, waxing it, looking at it, etc etc. I have been pouring over 5 different web sites and I think I've seen and read about every 2008, 9 and even 10s. Hundreds and hundreds. Today I missed out on a car I was ready to buy by maybe an hour or so. Heartbreaking! So it's very frustrating.
You really have to be on top of the cars for sale and when you do find the one, grab it. I've missed out on 3 or 4 already by minutes. It's killing me...... but I will not give up.

You don't need to like the color, you need to love it. You will look at it every day and you want to love it every day, not question it every day. As for the miles, it depends on if this is going to be a garage queen or a road warrior. If you are going to put miles on it, there's no point paying a premium for a low miles car. If piece of mind is what you need, put some of the money you save into an extended warranty. Buy the right car, in the right color, with the right options at the right price. When you can check all of the boxes, pull the trigger. When in doubt, step back.
