Default Parking brake button is stuck

The button on the parking brake on my 997.1 has broken. The button is stuck in the depressed position and won't pop back out. The parking brake is not on (nor is the dash light) but it will not engage now. Any ideas of a quick fix, or what may be wrong?

Only thing that comes to mind is that the spring that forces the button back out and actuates the ebrake locking cam has broken. This would cause both of the symptoms you decribe. Need to remove the ebrake assembly to determine if that's the problem though.

+1 to sounding like either a broken or bound up spring. Take the parking brake handle out of the console and see if you can figure it out. They aren't hard to remove, but I don't recall there being an easy way to replace the spring if needed when I had mine out.

Resolved! Thanks to all who responded, but I could not figure it out. Finally took it into the dealer. Turns out a small burr had built up inside the bore where the release button sits. Technician removed the burr and I was on my way. Total bill $ 90 plus tax. Hey, anytime I can get out of a Porsche dealer for $ 90 I'm happy!
