Great posting! The 997.2 owners need to know that this is for the 997.1 cars only. Things with the clutch are vastly different for them.

I had a heck of a time photographing the clutch bleed point as well. When I did the clutch I had a mechanic on the clutch pedal and as I recall he held the pedal in the up position when I opened to bleed. (Opposite what one would think).

Here's a link to tie in my write up from August 2009.

When I bleed my "94 Carrera 4 I do not move the clutch pedal. I watched a Porsche authorized tech do the procedure and he did not touch the clutch pedal. Is the 997.1 clutch different? When using a Motive pressuring unit do you need to pump the clutch pedal? Edgy: your mechanic held the pedal up, so was it really necessary?

The Motive Bleeder is supplying the pressure for you when you pump it up to about 22psi. The clutch pedal needs to be depressed, then pressure up the bleeder attached to a full reservoir, then open slave cylinder bleeder with tubing attached then close when bubbles are no longer present. Further help here.
