Hi guys, thinking about swapping out my clear stone guards for black to create a more nostalgic look. Do you think this would look good with my silver wheels and meteor gray? Might not be enough other black on the car to support this...
I go back and forth and back and forth but many times on these cars and I guess in life I think less is more. It seems to fit for me with the stone guards too. If you own something classy then it doesn't need all of the bells and whistles; especially the obvious ones.
I dislike wings and tinting windows and lowering the car etc.
The stone guards are one of the few things I'd consider though if I considered anything.
The cost of the stone guards is not that much--I think it was something like $50 for a black set and $75 for a clear set. If you install them yourself, they're cheap enough that you can put on one kind and if you don't like them, switch to the other.
For me, I like the look of both on my car. I'm running black at the moment. That's mainly because autocross cones really smudge up the clear ones and it's a royal pain to get off. The smudges don't show up on the black.
i think black only really "works" on a white car (and maybe also red/yellow, if it had black wheels), would be interesting to see pics of yours if you decide to go this route.

Agree 100%, black will not look as nice unless you have a few other black components to tie it all together.

I ordered the black so will apply to see how it looks. Cheap experiment. Why? Cause dad had lots of Porsches with the black SG's and I'm an 80's kid... Will post pix when back from vacation.
I have a black car and clear guards, but they have turned matte so they look like black guards. Porsche guys have commented it looks good so I haven't had them replaced.
