Question About to buy tires, should I go Bridestone or Michelin

Like the title says, I am about to buy a new set of tires... Getting them from Costco and a set of 19" Bridgestone Potenza RE050A'S out the door are around $1,400 and the Michelin PS2's are about $1,800... are the Michelins worth the extra $400 bucks? Which set is quieter?

Take a look at Michelin Super Sports too. Cheaper than PS2's and many here are saying better too.

I can't speak on the ps2 tires but I've had the RE050A tires previously to switching to the Michellin Pilot Super Sports. The michellins are a much better tire. They're quieter, smoother on the highway when crossing expansion joints and the handling is superior.
I had the older Bridgestones so maybe they made some significant improvements in the latest model.
I'm also not sure I'd trust Costco with mounting and aligning my car but you can get the Pilot Super Sports on tirerack.com for $1200. My dealer let me ship there and they installed.

I just got a set of four. My rears are gone after 25k kms. Instead of buying 2 mich ps2's for $1k i got 4 mpss for $1300. I think its a very good deal for what seems to be the best tire now in the market

Michelin PSS. BTW, I'd let Costco change the tires on my SUV...I wouldn't let them near the P-car. I doubt they have much experience with high-end cars.

How much difference is there really between mounting the tires on a Toyota or on a Porsche?

I'd insist on road force balance. I have my tires done at an Indy shop recc by tire rack for our 3 Porsches. . For my Lexus SUV a national chain is ok IMO.

A whole lot if you have Center Locks! Really though, if your on this forum your an enthusiast and, as such, you might not care as much with a Toyota wheels if the tire changer scuffs them a bit or places the balance weights a little crooked. But I'm no expert as Center Locks force me to go to my dealer as they are the only ones who have the tools and I'd trust to torque and service them properly.

Have the RE050A'S and if you plan to track, they become very greasy when pushed... They are fine on the street but so were my Sumitomo HTRZ III's on my 996 for 1/2 the price. I will go with super sports next.

I don't see a Toyota in your line-up.

How much do you like the finish on your wheels? In the end it's the quality and care of the work that matters. If the guy doing the work is careful and knows what he's doing, there isn't any. But I'd want the tires to be road force balanced and ideally indexed too.

I have 050 on my car now, they are ready to go, will get replaced by Super Sports.

Discounttiredirect.com price for a set of MPSS is $1164 all taxes and delivered to NY. Looks like a no brainier to me. I've had mine since January and love them.
