Default Vacuum Modification TECHNICAL QUESTION

This is probably a little beyond the scope of most people posting here but I know there are some among you with varied levels of experience working on these car.

Short story is that I'm swapping a 996.2 motor into a 997.1. I've transferred all required parts over but the intake had to remain 996 because it used a different intake runner bolt pattern than the 997.

I haven't encountered a problem until I started working on the vacuum lines.

The 997 takes its vacuum from the secondary scavenge pump on the passenger side of the motor. The 996 takes it's vacuum from the intake manifold. I need to adapt something to run from the female connector on the brake booster line ON the car to attach to the female connector on the intake (same as on the car).

Can anyone tell me how they've dealt with this (I assume this has been encountered swapping motors into boxsters and going from 996-997 motors and such). Is there too much vacuum to use rubber lines (factory has hard plastic and aluminum lines)?

I COULD reinstall the scavenge pump but I'm worried that'll create other adaption issues.

May have answered my own question. Going to install the 997 tandem pump and use it for vacuum. I can buy a block off plate from Porsche for the intake vacuum source on the 996 intake.

When this is all said and done I'll do a little write up on using a 996 core to install into a 997 car. Not all that difficult but ran into a snag on a few things that I might not have expected to be an issue.

Just curious, why did you use a 996 II motor in your 997.1 car?

Price and availability. $5500 for a motor with less than 30,000 miles. I think the fact that the IMS can be upgraded without splitting the case is a plus as well.

Thanks! That's a good price.
