Default Any tricks on Brake Vibration Damper removal?

I'm changing out my brakes and the slug/piston looking thing on the front brake vibration damper broke off in the caliper. Any suggestions or better yet tricks on how to get it out?

Just slide a putty knife behind the damper to break it free. Then you can pull them out. With it stuck I'm assuming you have maneuvered the caliper and have applied brake free. I don't recall the piston being stuck or hard to remove from the caliper.

I used a metal putty knife too. Might just lay the metal putty against the dampers and see if they will stick to the knife. Then pull them out. If that does not work spray some brake cleaner in there so you can see what you are doing. Then try to remove them.

Doninden, above suggestions would work unless your back plate has broken off from the pistons. Those look like screw holes in the pistons, try unscrewing a little to give your pliers more grip and plan on pulling it out that way. If screw is too short, get longer ones from Home Depot and try with vice grips. If brake cleaner doesn't work, you might need WD-40 to penetrate and loosen the pistons. Good luck!
