I imagine if you do your own service (which I do) and you keep your own service logs and know when the next service interval is coming up (which I do) the service reminder is mostly an annoyance (which it is).
as far as I know the only way for a consumer to turn off the service reminder is with Durametric software reactively as it pops up. I haven't heard of a way to shut it off completely. If there was a way it'd be nice. It's a bit of an annoyance to pull out the laptop to kill the service reminder.

Would it not make more sense to just re-set it when the service is peformed as opposed to kill it?
Yes shammerman if you have access to a piwis or the durametric. If you do not you buy the dura or have it done at a dealer. If you do your service, and keep a record the minder is indeed just an annoyance specially if you actually do not reach the mileage but actually just do it yearly

On my Panamera the reminder comes up based on mileage or time (annually) whichever comes first. But it's up for what, 2 seconds? Big deal. I can deal with that.

Not if you don't feel like dragging the laptop out every time. Everytime I connect I have to download an update to the software or driver or something. rarely is it a 15 minute deal. I'd rather just kill it entirely.
reviving an old one but has anybody found the answer to wheter the service minder could be turned off completely? if so, can we share the way to do it?
Speaking of Durametric, I have a Durametric Enthusiasts unit (good for up to 3 Porsches) that I will sell for $187, shipping paid in the continental US (cost $287 new). This is a complete kit like new, only one car has been registered so it is still open for 2 more vehicles. Had to sell my 2007 Carrera due to health problems so I'm now selling the Durametric.
