Default Map Update on 2010 C2 PCM 3.0

I've just purchased a 2010 low-mileage 2010 C2 w/ PDK, Nav, XM and Bose.

I love it! But the maps are badly out of date. Since the car is new to me, I decided to go ahead and pony up for the maps upgrade ($399+labor) which is where the problems began.

My dealer tried on two different occasions (one w/ a Porsche rep) to try and apply the update from the disc - no good.

The PCM reflects software version "V" which I'm told means 1.0. Suncoast says the 1.4 update must be applied first before the 2012 (v 2.2) update will work. I've communicated this to them, but they have given up and are ordering a whole new PCM unit (yikes!)

I'm kind of nervous about this. I have XM, Bluetooth, and the Universal Audio Interface on this car. I'm concerned that the radio swap may disable some of all of these features.

Frankly, I am flabbergasted that a simple map update - something every GPS ever made is designed to do - is causing so much fuss!

Just curious if anyone has a success story on trying to accomplish this upgrade, or any additional info I can pass along to my dealer...or any other info to allay my concerns.

Thanks!

The features that are coded with the car are attached to the VIN, so when the dealer orders a new PCM, that new unit should come with all of the hardware for the same features and the appropriate codes for the dealer to enable them with the PIWIS.

Maybe this will give Porsche a hint that its asinine software and data management system is idiotic when their own dealers cannot apply a simple data package upgrade onto the hard drive.

Minok,

Thanks - that does give me a little more confidence in the whole procedure.
