Why do Cabs depreciate more over time?
Demand dynamics? Maintenance and eventual cost of replacement of top? Higher MSRP?
thanks

All of the above.
However, I think the biggest indicative factor is the demand.
Cabs are indeed nice, however, there is a specific group of people who want one and as such, a slimmer market.

Subsequent owners not so much.
And the car's drop off in value reflects this.
Even in some times new Cabs lose considerable value. Back in early 2009 I was being offered brand new Cabs for $30K under sticker.

demand and back seat angle...
me personally i liked my 997.1 cab but it was always damn hot inside... needed better insulation.. also i love the extra space in my coupes.... plus rear seat angle because of the roll bars sucks when trying to put anyone in the back.

Hmm I am the third owner of mine and I appreciate it ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I think they just cost more than coupes. As they get older the price just has further to fall. They always tend to be slightly more than the coupe of similar age miles etc.

I don't care much for the new 991's but I prefer the cab over coupe in that variant. I wonder what the back seat situation is like with those. BTW, I had two BMW cabs previously(z3 and m3)... both creaked and allowed too much road noise thru. Swore I'd never go back to a cab but I do miss the top down experience every so often.

i think AWD is fine, the old AWD meant heavier.. but new AWD is quicker than 2wd.
always loved targa, love the hatch... nobody ever seems to use/open it tho. and very few know the back even opens like a hatch back.

If only the 997.1 coupes had the same headroom as the cab then I would have gone coupe. When your head hits the ceiling vs. having a couple inches, it's a no brainer.
Cabs cost more but depreciate more and when used are nearly the same as coupes for a given model year.

Man, I don't know.
To me I never considered a coupe because back in the day (oh boy!) any sports car had a top that went down.....and I loved the fact that it did....just a fabulous feature to have the top down on a beautiful day. Feel the same about the stick shift too probably for the same reason.
You couldn't give me a coupe and I know the coupe guys feel the exact same way about cabs. Ah..................variety makes the world go round!

Had both. Loved my coupe. Love my cab even more. There is nothing like dropping the top and cruising open air, fresh air all around, smelling the trees, ocean etc... I used mine all through winter. I feel claustrophobic with it up. The space in the back? I have no idea. Creaks? Sure but who gives a sh/t! I guess for some the novelty wears off but it hasn't for me. Would never go back.
