Picked up my 13 yr old daughter today from school (loves cars) and you could hear the boys "dude, that's a Porsche. Sweet. Engine is out back" Other kid "dude you're a retard". My daughter. "dad, open the trunk I need to out my backpack in there". I open up the trunk and the kids came over to check it out, the one just could not believe it. My girls just love getting picked up and dropped off in the car.

It is great to see young boys who have interest and a love of fine cars. This is a trait that every father should pass onto their sons.
I am always saddened when I see a young boy who has no interest in cars and would rather play video games and text message his fat and dopey friends.
The parents have failed with this type of child.
If you are a well-rounded boy and eventually a well-rounded man, you should have an interest and a love of fine vehicles just like a love of many fine things in life.

Coming back from Canada, border agent, who happened to be female, said "have to look in the trunk." Had to tell her she probably didn't want to look at the engine.

If any of you have a son buy an inexpensive antique car that needs restoration and start a project. I bought my son a 1968 Land Rover that we've been working on for the last 3 years, the bonding is well worth the money. And I doubt he'll crash his 1st car after working on it for so long.

Many years ago there was the story of a young woman in San Francisco, at the side of the road with the front trunk lid up. A trying-to-be-helpful police officer stopped and inquired, "madame, are you having trouble with your car?" She replied, "no silly, I'm just getting my groceries."
Ditto for my 914 many decades ago. When loading up a few bricks to do some minor landscaping around my yard I had both trunk lids up. Someone wandered by, noticed the two lids up as I was loading bricks (for even weight distribution) and they inquired, "where's the engine?" My smart reply was, "Engine? This is a Porsche. Those are extra."

I read a story some time ago about some guys who were zipping up and down the street and the cops finally caught up to them at a gas station. One guy pulled up and touch his front hood and told the other cops, it's not them, the hood is still cold. I thought that was classic. I took my 911 to a car show last week and popped my frunk to put the camera away and noticed a lot of people around me saying, "let's check out the engine." lol

+1... my younger son started helping me from the age of 12 to mod and maintain our prior M3 - upgrade suspension, brakes, audio, exhaust, and a super charger. All DIY projects and that time spent working together are now very precious to me as both my boys are off to college. My son is now 19 and does all the mods/maintenance on his Tacoma. Our next project together will likely be - fix up/rebuild our 21 yrs old 4Runner.
Also, to keep with the theme of the thread. I drop my son off at school each day and he puts his book bag in the frunk. We continue to get comments when he opens the frunk and takes his book bag out from there. Good times.

DHC: beautiful avatar. My second favorite after the fat guy in the speedo, with a bat, and clogs, and a helmet, and there's fire.
It seems the term frunk has gained traction among Tesla Model S fans.

Whenever I open my frunk in public, in the back of my mind I am always thinking, "I bet someone thinks I am having car troubles".

I was at the mall and saw an older gentleman with a dead battery in his old Buick so I offered him a boost.
When I opened the frunk to hook up the jumper cables, he looks to see only a battery and says, "is this one of those new electric cars"?
"Uh no".
