. . .or it's a re-imagined transmission with an electronic clutch that automatically shifts gears and also has a manual mode (sorry )

My first car, a 1964 Rambler Ambassador, had a transmission that I almost always shifted manually...yet, if I left it in "Drive", it would shift itself for me. AFAIK, every automatic before and since has had the same capability. Guess what everyone in and out of the industry called it: an automatic transmission. The term "automatic transmission" has nothing to do with (and does not refer to) the specific technology used to achieve this goal, it refers to the transmission's ability to function autonomously. The PDK has the ability to function autonomously. Never mind what technology is employed, or how well it works...this makes it an automatic transmission. It's obviously more mechanically efficient and faster-shifting than previous automatics, but that just makes it the best automatic so far. Its ability to allow manual (actually, "digital"...as in: finger-operated) shifting is nothing new, as I've pointed out with the example of my Rambler. I don't understand the reticence of people to admit that the PDK is an automatic transmission. It's not as though calling it what it is is some kind of slur or something. The PDK is the absolute pinnacle of automatic transmission development, to date. There is now sound justification for claiming that the PDK has surpassed the performance of the manual transmission, but that doesn't mean that it's not an automatic...

Given these two elements of your description, I would not have been interested in this car. Someone who intended to drive it in winter/wet conditions might appreciate the four wheel drive (I guess).
I'm sure the dealer is asking $90K+ for the car, my guess is that you can drive it away for $89K depending on how long they have had it, and what the market is like in your area, maybe less. Given the 1.9% financing available through PCA, if you love it, the extra $16 per thousand in monthly payment does not really matter.

Pasadena Rusnak has a 6sp white 2011 GTS cab w/ under 5K miles and CPO...it doesn't have sport chrono and basic black leather interior...gorgeous car, but hey were holding firm at $100K for about 2-3 weeks, then dropped to $90K for 2 weeks and then dropped to $86K...(still on there lot)...Rusnak can't move it...It's a niche car (GTS, white, cab, manual)...
