Looking at purchasing my first 911...
I've been a looking for a 997 for a while now, I've narrowed it down to a 997.2 C2S, sports chrono, 6spd manual, in Gray with Black interior.
I managed to find a low mileage one that meets all my requirements. Buts its located in MN and I live in WA.
I've already got the PPI and financing worked out. I still need to negotiate the price with the dealer and will be speaking with them tomorrow.
Here are my questions...
Would you fly out there and drive it back or have it shipped back?
What would be a fair market price for this vehicle?
2010 Porsche 911 Carrera S
3,224 Miles
CPO
Self Dimming Mirrors
Heated Front Seats
Ventilated Front Seats
Porsche Dynamic lighting System
Bluetooth Phone Interface
Sport Chrono Package Plus
Extended Navigation Module
Bose Surround Sound System
Floormats - Interior Color
iPod, USB, Auxiliary Interface
Meteor Grey Metallic
Black Standard Leather
19" INKA Wheel
Seat Belts - Silver
Thanks,
Brad

If it's any help, I ended up getting mine shipped to me on the train from vancouver to edmonton, after I flew there to check the car out in person. I wanted to drive it (what better way to get acquainted?), but it was already late fall/winter and I didn't want to bring it through the mountains with summer performance tires on (asking for trouble). The train worked out really well, the dealer took care of the details...
If you are able, definitely drive her back. If not, shipping isn't bad.

+1 on driving it back if possible
I drove my 2008 C2S back from California (to Texas) and made a 2000 mile vacation out of the deal. With less that 4000 miles, I would want to get her out and stretch her legs.
Good luck with purchase

Price seems to be from what i've been looking at(i'm looking for the same thing) to be low $60's CPO'd from a dealer. So, $60k CPO'd with that mileage would be really good deal! Good luck and enjoy the wait once it's on its way........I've done the same on a car and tracking it across the U.S. is nerve-racking! Be sure to post pic's! If you wouldn't mind, after you buy it would you share your purchase price? You can PM me if you prefer. Helps me since again i'm in the market as well.

IMO, I wouldn't want to put all that mileage on it. Isn't like 1,500 miles?
That being said, you would already have 50% more mileage on the car, just once you get it home. Plus you have to deal w/ whatever weather issues, road hazzards, etc, etc along the way. I would get it shipped without question. What was the sticker on the car, I am guessing just shy of $100k? I would say it's in the $70s range now, but I am a little out of touch.

I drove mine 600 miles. Got acquainted with the car, (pcm, navi, ect). Enjoyed the drive. However my arbitrary max distance was 1000 miles. I understand both sides, one you get to drive, the other a Christmas present unloaded in your driveway. Price I am not sure of fair market value. If you want it , and can afford it, buy it, and never look back.

My Brother and I made a road trip out of buying my 4S. We flew to Los Angeles, purchased her (no name yet) and drove back to the Bay Area. The weather was great the traffic was very light and it was a lot of fun putting about 360 miles on her. Great way to get to know her.

Take the significant other. Plan a route that takes you to cool bed and breakfasts on scenic roads and enjoy a 4 day road trip. She will appreciate the time with you and maybe understand why we buy these tiny little impractical cars. You will be surprised by how much stuff the car will hold. Use soft luggage.
