Another good reason not to upgrade to a 991 at least here on the left coast. Finally down to $218 this yr for my 05 C2S which I have had from new. It almost seems like a deal. Curious what others pay in other states/countries?

Ask USMC about property taxes in TX. The state will get your money one way or another.

Yes, the state gets it out of us in form of property tax but the percentage is not much higher, ~2.5% vs. 2.3%, than what I paid in SoCal (Rancho Santa Margarita) where we moved from 15 yrs ago. Works out to be $8K/yr for a 3,400 sqft 5 bed room home in an upper middle class neighborhood with great schools. The same house in SoCal would have costed us over a $1M-$1.5M so figure the taxes on that at whatever rate you like. But what I really like is the option of paying for our registration at the grocery store so no need to wait at the DMV... Driver's License ID's are renewed online. And if you do need to go to the DMV... well it took me a 10 minutes wait to pay for my initial out of state car registration since the car came from Cali. Time not spend in a line waiting for hours is priceless! Vehicle sales tax is ~6.25%. If you trade in a vehicle then you only pay taxes on the difference between the new vehicle minus the trade-in. Compared to where I've lived it's not bad... BTW, we used to move every 2 yrs on average.

Well Oklahoma is not bad at all. Here they are about 50-100 reg fees, but we do not pay a sales tax on cars. There is a tax a that is roughly 2.5% cannot remember what they call it but it is much better than traditional state taxes. This is why so many trucking companies are "from" Oklahoma.

$301 hear near SF for a 2006 Carrera. CPO expires end of year. I should just keep it but I probably won't.

Nebraska is ridiculously high: my '06 997 -- $905.00 per year.
Plus, our property taxes are crazy high as well. The levy is approximately
2.2 % of the value per year. So, on a house valued at $500,000.00, the annual property taxes will be approximately $11,000.00 per year.
Additionally, we have State Income Tax.
What's more.... our weather consists of 6 months of winter and 6 months of bad weather.
