Default 991 Turbo

Saw this on R&T's fb this morning... Now I'm not a big fan of the 991 to begin with, but this makes sense to me. Looks soooo much better than the 991 carrera from the rear! hmmm

When you think about it, the Turbo is the taking the 991 as a GT, ala Aston Martin, Jaguar, etc., to its logical conclusion. The proportions just look on target. Massive wheels that blend into substantial fender lines.

That being said, as far as styling, I'm not sure why 997 enthusiasts would have any problem with the 991 exterior. It's simply taking the 997 theme further. Yesterday I saw a white 991 S slowly rolling down the street and a silver Panamera was parked right along side it. The 991 hardly looked all that much smaller. I'd say the Carrera really has become like the Panamera coupe.

I like it.

Although I would only ever need the C4S..... Not sure why i would need the turbos for a DD street car.

Still, if you can, you must!

But it's all in the details! some minute proportion alterations go a long way, especially if you're one to notice the details.
I'm actually looking forward to a legitimate panamera coupe, with a front engine v8, lets call it 929 lol. I think it could be a pretty awesome GT.

I think porsche would only go for that if it cost even more than a 991 Turbo. Maybe a middle price point between the Turbo and the Flat8 batmobile thing. But that might start leading them down the road of Merc, the company with too many cars to sustain the perception of exclusivity.
These prices for mass produced Porsches are really getting silly. But will probably get sillier still while rates are still low and the markets still surging.

I sort of agree, the 991 rear doesn't have that compelling look of a wide-body Carrera rear end. It's too muted for proportions that large. That being said, I noticed every single person on the sidewalk watched that 991 S slowly roll by like it was a statuesque blonde in a mini skirt. It may not be the short sports coupe it once was with the 964/993 but it's giving Aston/Jaguar/Merc a run for the GT money.

Um, I'm not sure the concept of "need" is appropriate in a forum about 911s

Also, don't forget that you can actually use the power in Germany.

And then there's the old hotrodder adage - Too much power is just enough.

p.s.
Doesnt' the intake on that R&T look photo-chopped? It looks large enough to swallow a small varmint whole.

definitely. It is still a test vehicle, so who knows what's going on there.

I've given up on the idea of Porsche being a small 'exclusive' sports car company. They're just another large scale German auto manufacturer now. Get the models out there! lol

The intake is just a sticker that porsche use. They used the same one when testing the 991 C2 and C2S.
