Can Someone Help Me Out - Need 997.1 Driver Side Tail Light

my detailer admittedly cracked my tail light and i didn't want to lean on the guy so just said no worries -

Does anyone have one laying around perhaps upgraded to LED.

i am willing to pay for one or at least cover shipping -

So here's why I'm thinking you're not getting a donation. I have a set of my take-offs in the garage. Based on the spotty history of the LED taillights I'm using, I'm reluctant to part with my take-offs since who knows when I'll need a replacement. Or many folks would like the car returned to stock when and if I sell. Or if someone sends you one what do they do with the remaining orphan. Believe me, if I had two sets in the garage I'd send you what you need.

Mike, I may be able to help here but I don't want to get your hopes up yet. I bought a pair of used GT3 rear lights from a fellow RLer last year for a rainy day like you're having... these should be the same as our 997.1 lights. They're up in my attic so I'll be able to inspect them this weekend when I get back home to Austin. Ironically, I'm in SF this week on business otherwise I would have brought it with me. I'll be back in SF again in two wks but if you need it sooner I can ship it to you. Just send me a PM with the address you want it shipped to... driver side right?

Nice of you not too rag on the guy but, he must have given the tail light a good whack don't you think as they're pretty durable lenses. The detailer should have offered to replace the lens if its his profession, and not a guy on the side, but for $ 250.00 I'd ask him what are his thoughts about the replacement cost, as its left to you to locate, ship and install. Maybe he'll do a freebie next time.

The detailer may be some bloke who is trying to make ends meet on a daily basis. Porka may be in a better position to pay for one or have more connections (rennlist) to get a replacement. I could see myself giving such a guy a break, and I would give up a spare if I had one. All speculation of course.

in actual fact i may dig around and see what spare parts i have to offer up here for free.

Not sure what rep points are but the driver side light is yours. I'll try to get it out to you Mon/Tue. A cracked light would drive me nuts so let's get your 997 back to 100%... so you can enjoy the ride again!
