Hi - I am new to the board, and was thinking of buying a 997 to use as my DD. I do a good amount of calls and conference calls from my car. Would this be difficult because of engine/road noise? What if I was driving very conservatively while on a call?
Any insight appreciated.

I too spend a lot of time on conference calls while driving. When I'm in my 997, everyone else on the call knows it. They can definitely hear the road noise. When I'm in my Acura, they don't seem to notice the noise. If the pavement is exceptionally smooth, the road noise is low. If I'm driving on a highway paved with "popcorn ball" porous recycled pavement, then I've got to keep the phone on mute.
Aside from the conference calls, the road noise isn't a problem for me and is not a concern.

Not a problem. Coupe? Cab? Coupes are quieter. I would recommend a car with the multi-function steering wheel, however. Phone integration is better on the 997.2 cars.

no earpiece used in my 997.2, and I get excellent sound and reception thru the car's BT unit. Likewise, I would assume that people on the other end of my calls can hear pretty clearly whatever cabin noise I encounter.

I had a call on the way home tonight and at highway speeds (around 70 mph) no issue at all for me or the caller. I have a coupe and the windows were up, although it wouldn't matter what you're driving if the windows are down. Good luck.

Years ago I passed on a C5 Vette for this reason.

I have the mobridge unit in my targa and at freeway speeds, the person on the other knows I'm in the car & usually asks how fast am I driving.
My guess is the coupe has less cabin noise & the mobridge unit's mic is right by the rear view mirror so it is probalby not helping. A BT headset would probably doa better job of filtering out the noise.
