09 Values in the next 4 months
I've recently sold my 993 C4S as I'm looking to get back into a 997 911 and I do prefer the 997.2 merely for the revised body updates.
What are everyone's thought's on present pricing vs what is expected by summer? I've seen a few nicely equipped 09's priced anywhere from $55 to $59k and wondering if we'll see values head south to the $50k mark?
For example Porsche of Naples has a 09 CPO'd Aqua Blue Metallic 6spd bare bones Carrera priced at $55,900 and to me that seems expensive considering SwankyFrank's 09 is priced at $59k with boat loads more options but albeit additional mileage (24k vs. 40k)
I'm in no rush but can't seem to decide whether waiting will be beneficial or not...
Thoughts or opinions?

They will probably either remain steady or go UP in the next 4 months. Higher demand in spring/early summer. Plan to buy in Nov/Dec and you should be at a seasonal low point in pricing.

I can't imagine 4 months impacting the market of the type of vehicle you are shopping more than $500-$1000 either direction. The 2009 911's were on the low side of units brought into the US. I which I had saved the article but the numbers were surprisingly as low as the 993 numbers.
Where did your 4S go?

Hey Mark - I've sold the car locally after the buyer had asked me about it.
I'll come back to 993 ownership at a point but for now I'd like to nab another 997 and this time the 997.2. I'll probably wait until after summer to begin shopping...

FWIW I have had an Autotrader alert set up for several years, searching for 2009 Carrera S manuals, and I would say that for at least the last year they seem to have been very scarce. I bought mine a few years ago and I haven't seen as much depreciation I would have anticipated.

I wouldn't expect any depreciation in the next few months since we're coming out of winter and demand will increase with the warm weather. What your seeing now will hold and may increase slightly as stocks dwindle. You may get a deal on an odd/unpopular color combination.

They built 200k worth of 997s I read and at the beginning of 2007 the hit the 100k mark. At that rate of sale I would guess that you are only looking at 50 to 60 k total of the mark .2 version of the 997. When you add rising sales in Asia to the equation its not hard to believe that total number of 997.2s coming to the US was significantly down.

Just keep lookin until you find the car you want then buy it.
All buyers want an exceptional car with low miles and bargain priced, not sayin that you wont find it but you may be a fair bit older when you do get er !

Hey guys I've found an 09 Carrera w/pdk, low miles, heated seats, steering wheel, power group, BOSE pkg, XM radio etc. for $53k....deal or not? CPO'd as well...

The price seems low, but I think the PDK cars are generally less expensive than the MT counterparts. If you like the PDK it's a great deal (on paper).

Some data points:
- I just purchased an '09 C2 S for $55,400 with 26K miles including shipping... original price was just above $110K. It was not CPO and from a non-Porsche dealer in Minnesota. The CarFax said 1 accident "hit a wild animal". I had it driven by a local Porsche club guy and then inspected on the rack at a local Porsche speed shop including a computer dump. They said "If it has been in an accident, we see no evidence of it." The computer showed it was never over-rev'd and redlined 18 times. A Poser car and I suspect, had only cosmetic damage. I now have the car and am loving it.

- Here is an amazing '10 C2 S for sale in CA... clean CarFax - $55.8K!!! http://outbackmotorsales.com/index.p...rrera-4s-coupe
- Manheim numbers for mid January to mid February of C2S sales nationwide showed numbers all over the map... I don't understand the condition codes very well, but eyeballing shows auction price of an '09 C2S as about $52 or so. This represents a "price floor"... why the above '10 was going for such as low price, I don't know.
- Dealer in MN said my car would go up $4K in April, he said this the day after the car was en route to me... true? I dunno.
- I looked for three months... be patient... there are good deals out there. Know what you want. I always believed (actual facts not known) that buying a sports car at month end, on January 31st, in Minnesota is about the best time and and place to do it. I have also been told, that given the efficiency of Manheim and low transportation prices, that location doesn't matter any more as it is truly, a flat national market.
