Also get "depress clutch"

That hints strongly at the microswitch in the clutch that inhibits starting... but I'd expect no clicking sound at all from the starter in that case.... so that may be a red herring.

Ok, PSAM Failure is now gone.
Battery reading about 14.4 w/ engine running.

The Walmart battery is made by Johnson COntrol. I believe they make batteries for several other brands. The Fit was perfect and Walmart was open on SUNDAY.

Gotta feel better now! Johnson Controls manufactures a good number of branded batteries, sometimes to their specs, others to the branded specs. Good batteries

Your failed battery that was less than 2 years old. What brand is it? 2 year failure is kind of unusual these days. Any guess as to what happened to it?

Tell us more about your maintainer/charger setup.

OEM battery. I use a schumacher maintainer/trickle charger plugged into the cig lighter.

It should. After I changed the battery in my Turbo and took the car by the dealer to have the tech double check my work the tech offered to clear the error codes one he told me would be related to the steering wheel sensor but he told me that they would clear on their own by just driving the car.

I was puzzled: I told him there were no warning lights on. Apparently I guess I changed the battery quick enough that enough residual power remained all the systems were happy.

The battery in the car was too far gone.

I wish I could get 2 years between battery failures. Batteries of late (well, since May of 2011) suck.

Wish this tread had come out earlier as I already put the "inferior" Walmart battery in my car. No wonder it felt slower. Maybe I should have gone with this instead

Definitely more "worthy" of being in the frunk and a 12 month warranty to boot
