Last week I posted news of my new to me 2010 C2S. As is with Porsche, I got a car engineered for performance and handling and not necessarily standard nicieties like built in MP3/iPod connectivity . No regrets, but I'd rather listen to my Pearl Jam playlist while driving Angeles Crest, and if i may dream big -stream Pandora. I have a PCM v2.1 system. After searching this forum, my non negotiables: 1. Do not want an FM transmitter, 2. Replace my OEM system ( Dennison not compatible my car year) and lose chrono tracking capability and potentially void my CPO.
Rennlist gurus: Is my only viable option to accept a dealer installed UIA (Ruznak quoted around $1000 ? )
Thanks. Your "sister" in So. Pasadena.

Universal Audio Interface sounds like your solution based on your information. I've had it quoted at $700 Not sure if it was parts only though.
If the parts consist only of the panel and connector it seems like a simple install as I've taken apart my console twice.

You should have PCM 3.0. Take a shot of it and post up. There are various options for this (we can help on some)....

I wound up going for the FM modulator solution, because I couldn't see blowing that much $$ to get the iphone hooked up for occasional use.

Turns out I have an older version (v1.41) -Thanks Eric. Perhaps my first step is to return to the dealer where the car was CPO'd and insist on software upgrade?

Streaming music by bluetooth only requires a software change to the PCM/Bluetooth system. If the profiles are in firmware that cannot be updated by a software push, but require a chip change, then Porsche will likely not update things. If a software update to the PCM could fix it, there is still a big chance they won't push it to older cars for avoiding introducing any new issues. Consumer electronics companies never bother pushing new features to old hardware they already sold, with the exception of Apple and Oppo. Sony, Samsung, LG, and Porsche, my two experiences, never seem to.
Out of the box, the 997.2 PCM3 solution does not support bluetooth audio streaming... only bluetooth hands free phone. That is because of the bluetooth protocols the bluetooth system installed in the PCM supports.

I spoke to my very helpful dealer and found out you can upgrade to V1.47. There have two upgrades to V1.41, with 1.44 being in between them. Non EOD these will create Bluetooth streaming though. They are bug fixes at most.

I stand corrected. Went back through some old threads and no one managed to get it to work. Looks like you have to buy a Panamera
in order to get BT streaming.

in a 2010 you have PCM 3.0. What you have shown is just the SW version. You probably have a UAI (universal audio interface) - you can plug your ipod/iphone in there and it works just great. It was an option in 2009 and i thought std in 2010 or 2011. Look in the storage area behind your hand brake and it should be there. I dont believe any 997.2 will do BT streaming for music. Only Panameras as far as I know.
