Default Bose crossover adjust

Others have complained, and I agree, that the crossover for the bose subwoofer is much too high.
Has anyone found a way to adjust this?
I am not looking to replace the amp. Are there inline crossover devices that can do this?
Btw where is the amp?

Can't with the Bose system. They use proprietary cables and connections and no access to the program. There are in line crossover/tuning devices like what Alpine makes but as far as I know it can't be hooked into the Bose system.

If the stereo in your car means a lot to you the only way to improve it and keep the stock head unit is to go custom with new amps and speakers.

I agree though the Bose system sucks but also remember that the 997 is not even a good cabin design for audio quality anyway plus you have all the road noise to contend with.

I wonder if there are any adjustments using the Durametric. I did some upgrades in my Audi and was able to turn off the Bose circuit using a Durametric type device.

Just curious what others think the optimal settings are for the bose system. My sound quality is horrible.

I like the sound better (or dislike it less) with surround "off". I don't recall the actual menu choice on the PCM but it was something like surround. I had my wife listen to it with surround on and off and she liked it better with surround on. Go figure. Anyway she doesn't know how to change the setting, so it has stayed off.

I ran the same experiment with my wife. Exact results. Go figure

I believe some owners have had some improvement in the bass response from the Bose subwoofer by stuffing it with polyester fiberfill (eg., from a pillow). This should tighten up the bass response curve. Here's a link to a story on Planet http://www.planet-9.com/reviews/elec...nd-system.html

One of these days I'll take my car to the local high end audio dealer here and see if they can do anything. I just want better seperates like rainbow or helix, decent but small sub, and better amps.

Thanks for the planet 9 diy link.
As opposed to the caymen, the 997 the subwoofer ports are behind the rear seats and thus an equivalent remedy would be to stuff these ports with polyester foam.

Ill put this on the to do list and report back. I have a feeling Ill end up at an audio shop to get their opinion.

I've hardy ever had the radio on but I feel it would be fitting to for the audio to be in the same ballpark as the rest of this spectacular machine.

I had a Durametric system that I used on my 2007 997s and never saw anything related to the audio or nav system that I remember. But this is a good idea to look into.

I have the base model but I'll look to see if there is an option next time I have it connected. My Audi allowed you to turn it off which provided a normal signal opposed to the Bose phasing from what I understand.

Didn't order Bose in my GTS for the very reasons most are experiencing. If I want to in the future I can easily install a light weight amp and new lightweight speakers in the door and back panel and have a system far greater in sound quality than Bose.
However right now my car is a fun weekend toy and track car. I mostly listen to the NFL, NASCAR, New XM channels anyway because road and exhaust noise is loud in my car.

This is the REAL reason you buy a 911. Not the freak'n stereo.
