Here's the link to Brombacher in Germany. Nice folks to do business with.

Is this the one you bought? How does it attach?

Order what is specific to your car. My kit was for a 2011 Carrera GTS, which has a slightly different front fascia than a regular 997.

The front bumper has to come off to install the Brombacher grills. While you can do it yourself, I had my body shop do it for me.

The original poster's solution is much cheaper, and definitely a DIY project, which I think was his point.

Sorry for the unintentional thread hijack.

Existing inserts? There aren't any. Unless you are referring to the horizontal bars. If so, you do not remove them. Simply pry the vertical bars from the two clips. The tops and bottoms of the vertical abrs fit into holes and are not otherwise attached.

The trim is a friction fit and doesn't need anything else. However, I bought the Auto Goop for that purpose but decided not to bother. I used four zip ties to attach each mesh insert to the horizontal bars. dave

Great job Dave. I was looking at doing this. What did you use to trim the mesh?

The trim code is Trim_Neo and is described as Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim. Cost is $7.50 for 10 ft at CustomCarGrills.com. dave

Sorry. What tool did you use to cut the mesh to the appropriate shape?

I bought the same supplies and used the 3M molding tape sold on the website to secure the grills instead of zip ties. Held up to my interstate speed test. Took making 4 pre- templates out of cardboard and about 4 hours to finish. The 6x36 piece and 10' of neoprene will work for the 997.1.

Why can't you just clip the zip ties close?

Dasams, did you do the center grill as well, I like what you did but might want to do the center portion as well, to keep a somewhat consistent look. If I did how would you attach the new grill ? Thx

Nice DIY project.

Having cleaned out the leaves, have been thinking about grill screens.

Others, thanks for posting some of the after market screen options. Looks like the bumper comes off for the after market options ?
