Clear bra removal paint peel?
Has anyone actually removed a clear bra off non OEM paint?
I realize OEM paint is usually no issue for peeling.
You hear 2 sides of the story these days, those saying def no peel if paint cured properly, others claiming it's so possible esp if the bra has been on for say 5 years and the glue or whatever adhesive used has hardened.
It appears the quality of the prep work behind the repaint plays an important role too!
So now just want to hear from those that actually had it removed.
Appreciate the feedback.

I just removed 6 year old 3M clear bra and had no issues. Gently heat with a heat gun to loosen/soften the adhesive and slowly pull at an angle. Use 3M adhesive remove to get the remaining residue off. Just takes some time but not difficult.
If you have non-factory paint under it, there is always a possibility of peeling, especially for sub-par paint work.

I removed clear bra that was on OEM paint BUT on top of the OEM clearcoat were painted stripes and the clear protector film was removed without pulling the painted stripes. That said to be safer either leave the car in the sun for a period or carefully warm ( notice I said warm not heat) the film with a hair dryer or heat gun. That will loosen the adhesive and make the film more pliable, then pull slowly and evenly.

I peeled mine off a 2007 that I bought a few weeks ago. I ended up finding a strange flaw in the clear around one of the headlights only to realize that fender had a spot repair that wasn't visible under the intense swirls in the bra. The clear didn't lift, just revealed something unexpected.

As I figured, it sounds like everyone has no issues taking a clear bra off OEM paint.
Challenging to get a consensus from non OEM paint. Either way, thanks for the input!

I removed a 10yo clear bra off of OEM paint with no issues to the paint. But my fingers were nearly bloodied by the procedure and I had to spread the removal over several days. Heat is definitely helpful but only to a degree, too much heat will make it too soft and not enough will not allow the adhesive to soften up.
This particular car sat outside and the bra was exposed to the elements so it was brittle.
Newer bra's are suppose to be much easier.
