Default FD Motorsports / B&M Shift Installation

I just wanted to give a thumbs up to Darin & Mark at FD Motorsports. They just installed a B&M short shifter into my 997 for me and things couldn't have been smoother. Great guys and easy going to boot. These are the guys that do the Fister Exhaust Gundo Hack. The B&M shifter is awesome. I didn't realize how sloppy the stock shifter was until today. It just feels tight and precise.... substantial. If you've thought abut doing it.... go for it.

We've stocked it for many years for a reason....it's the standard by which all other shifters are measured.

Many of us did this mod and really like it. My car now shifts and sounds fantastic.

I've really got to test drive a car that has the B&M SSK installed. I've only heard good things about it. The stock shifter (specially the 2nd to 3rd upshift) feels imprecise to me.

This caused me to hesitate while shifting... fishing for the proper gear. The B&M SSK eliminated this issue as the gates are now tight and precise. This is a performance mod and one of the 1st to consider when modifying a 997. Quicker shifting = quicker car. Note that the kit is tunable meaning that you can tighten it or loosen it per your preference. For example, I set my SSK for tighter gates which require a little more muscle but others like the buttery side of shifting... I may try this at some point just for a reference. GL and +1 for Eric at BumperPlugs if you need to source one of these.
