Joe inspired me to do some more work on my 996 install... I've been using my mini on a RAM mount but wanted to work up something a bit more integrated. It's starting to come together, though it did take a fair amount of modifications to the horseshoe bezel to get things moving in the right direction.

A few prototype pictures...

Pfbz looking very good. Do you have room to run the power cable to the Mini? What did you need to do to the horse shoe to get it to fit? Woul love to see a step by step on this.

I'm still working through the fittment. It took a fair amount of dremel modification to the horseshoe bezel to get it to sit over the mini and still lock into place properly. It *barely* fits, and is slightly too tall to have the cup holders go back in. I can use the cup holder trim to fill in the gap, but the actual cup holder mechanism is just RCH to thick to slide back in.

Plenty of room for the mini lightning/usb connector behind the bezel. That is an opening for a dummy switch just above it, and the cigarette lighter opening just below it. I knocked off a bit of the plastic around the inside of the switch hole just to ensure plenty of room for the cable.

Is there a way to maintain Bluetooth connectivity with your iPhone? I have a Mobridge installed & it's great, but limited by the crappy PCM interface. I would do this IF Phone via Bluetooth was still possible.

I posed the question above about whether phone connection via Bluetooth was still possible with the head unit removed. So, I sent a message to MoBridge asking whether or not it is possible to integrate their Bluetooth-enabled units and an iPad in a 997. Here was their intriguing response.

"We currently don't have such a solution using our current ABT2010.
Replacement of headunit with an iPad is something that we are working on, but it will be some time before we are
ready to announce any products."

This idea is really taking off. A little more research & I'm on board.

Sorry to bump an old thread. But this is just awesome! I didn't see it posted but I will assume you have the 4G/Wi-fi model iPad mini?

Love the install. Have been debating what to do with my MY06 997.
This wasn't even on my radar.
And you say it pops back out easily to reload music / movies??
