It happened.. a stone chip on my front windshield!

State Farm Insurance in Georgia will not pay for windshield repairs, they just replace the windshield with new OEM glass. Only cost has been my $100 deductible. Have had this situation 3-4 times in the last 5 years.

Tiny rock chip
Had this happen today, I have Porsche windshield protection plan so if I want to replace it I can but since it’s so small and I don’t want to deal with replacing then retinting the front, thinking of mobile repair. Mobile repair guy said the two small white blobs will remain, but it will look lot less visible…wwyd?

I'd definitely try for the repair as long as it is not in your direct line of sight.
A good glass tech will clean up the chip with a pick or clean it up with a small drill bit, create a vacuum and suck UV cure epoxy into the void.
It should look better than it does now, but the important thing is that no moisture will get into the chip, so it won't spread.
Typically, your insurance carrier will wave your deductible and pay for the repair.
Might be worth checking.
Hope this helps,
Bill

The mobile window guy quoted me $95, with Porsche Windshield protection plan I don’t have to pay for part or labor just the deductible which will be around the same $90-100. With the windshield replacement it would just take longer and I would have to get it retinted, but it would 💯 perfect till the next rock comes hopefully not. Mobile it’s not going to be 💯 maybe 90…

Replaced mine
USAA paid to replace mine. I demanded OEM glass. The first time Safelite put in looked like ****. I took pictures of other cars to show them t he kind of rubber holds it in. They finally got it right
